A hardworking, easy going, Lakeland Florida native
An avid golfer with a 5 handicap, married father of one, Ricky Nix does not believe in titles or ego. Ricky Nix strives to design and bring to life the best courses possible for its members. In addition, through collaboration with the project owner, members, and committees coupled with his unique and practical design ideas he is passionate and works hard for each project to get the course they want. As a lover of the game he knows what golfers enjoy and what frustrates them. This is part of what people enjoy about his course designs. He also takes into consideration the land on which the course is built. Building courses that sit softly on the land and work with nature and using the land to its full advantage is not only smart but sustainable and admirable.
Ricky is Ron Garl's Nephew and Business Partner at Ron Garl Golf Design. Ricky has over 35 years experience at Ron Garl Golf Design and has been Ron's number two since working his way up through the company. In that time he has designed and managed many new courses and renovations. He has been mentored by his uncle Ron Garl but given free range in his designs while collaborating with and learning from Ron who in turn learned form some greats himself like Joe Lee, Robert Trent Jones, and Dick Wilson. Ricky is now a Named Partner with Ron. Ricky will be leading the empire with Ron at Garl Nix Golf Course Design.
